Styling Chunky Sandals for Summer

Today I’m sharing what I wore to the Pinterest Manifestival at Cannes Lions. It was on the beach, so I knew it had to be light, and it was a Pinterest event, so I wanted a unique look with unique chunky sandals.

Let’s break down the look:

The Dress is from Princess Highway, one of my favorite brands. Princess Highway is based in Australia, so the timing is perfect for shopping for the Aussie sale for the Italian summer. However, this specific Dress is second-hand, I got it through Vinted, one or two years ago. It’s one of my favorite dresses, it has the 70s-inspired vibe I love. I paid 5 euros for it because it had a pen stain on the chest but it went off when I first washed it. It came packed in a cute paper box I still keep at home, it was a great purchase! At first, I wasn’t going to wear it, but when I got the chunky sandals I realized it was the perfect match!

The Sunnies are from Germano Gambini, my new favorite Italian Brand for frames. I got this pair on Vinted as well, I paid 15 euros for them and went to my local optician to add the graduated crystals. The original price of these glasses is around 150-200. They are super light and resistant, and they come in beautiful colors. If you want not-so-popular Italian glasses, I highly recommend you check that brand.

I got the golden jewelry the week before in Madrid. It was in one of those shops that only sells bijouterie and bags. I couldn’t resist these big hops because they are large but lightweight.

But now it’s the turn of the star of this summer look: my chunky sandals. I wasn’t a big Platform fan. They were super fashionable around the early 2010s in my home country, Argentina, and I was a hater. I was such a hater that I had a Tumblr profile with a collection of the ugliest platform shoes. It was called “Quiero Llorar” because they were so ugly that I wanted to cry. I used to hate white sandals too, but I think people change and now I love them. This pair is from Copenhagen Studios and I got them through Zalando Privè. I paid them approximately 1/3 of the real value. I don’t know which season they are because I saw them for the first time at Zalando, but if you fall in love with expensive sandals, I think going to Zalando Privè can be a great idea.

Chunky sandals are a great option for any occasion from work to summer casual outings. Styling them is super easy as they go with almost anything like jeans, skirts, shorts, and more.

On this summer look, I had two bags. That day I took my laptop because I was supposed to have a meeting with Pinterest and wanted to have all my questions and information handy. I got both bags from Vinted, and I wasn’t planning to wear them together but it felt just right. The outside suede bag was gorgeous, but my computer wasn’t safe inside of it. My crochet tote bag was perfect for the computer, but I didn’t want to put my sunscreen in the same pocket as my laptop so my friend Vicky came up with this idea and I think it was genius.

The third bag was a Canvas Tote bag I got from the London Sneaker School Activation, and it had my new Crocs inside!

I know this dress highlights my tummy, but over the years, I have stopped worrying about it and just enjoy wearing what I like and what fits my style and mood. Also, with such beautiful chunky sandals, who is watching my tummy? haha. I hope the younger Maria Laura would have been more confident and worn what she liked and not what was “hiding” her tummy.

I hope you like this chunky sandals outfit. It’s versatile and perfect for drinks after a beach day or brunch with friends. It’s comfy, fresh, and beautiful. Let me know if you like this post, and I will write more about my looks. Thanks for reading!
