Iced Coffee - Caffe leccese

Iced Coffee – The Italian Way

Save it for later!

If you are coming to Italy and would like to enjoy an iced coffee but would like to live the Italian experience, I think you should try this Caffè Leccese. It’s originally from the South of Italy (from the ‘heel of the boot’), but you might find places that can make it. “Caffè freddo per tutti ii gusti” (Iced coffee for everyone) is a trend on Pinterest Italy, so I guess this kind of coffee is becoming more popular in the country.

To taste the original one, you should visit the city called “Lecce”, a beautiful town to visit during spring or summer.

How to make the Iced Italian Coffee “Caffé Leccese”

Ingredients for 1 glass:

  • 1 Coffee cup (espresso or Mokka)
  • 40 ml of Almond Milk (1/6 cup)
  • 3 Ice cubes

Instructions:

  • Make your coffee shot.
  • Grab a glass and fill it with the ice and the milk.
  • Slowly, pour your coffee into your glass. Stir with a spoon.
  • And it’s done!

Of course, you can find Starbucks coffee in big cities like Milan, but if you have the chance to try this Italian coffee you won’t regret it.

How to order a Large Iced Latte Macchiato in Italy

If they can’t make you a Caffè Leccese at the bar, you could try making your own Iced Latte Macchiato.

This is what you should order:

  • Un Latte Macchiato (milk and 1 shot of coffee)
  • Un bicchiere di giacchio (a glass with ice)

And mix it on your own. (Beware: if you ask only for “A Latte” they will give you a glass of milk – I’m talking from experience).

How to order a strong Large Iced Latte Macchiato in Italy

If you share my coffee tastes and want a strong latte macchiato, you should ask for the Latte Macchiato and buy “Un espresso” (1 shot of coffee).

The glasses you will receive are a mystery! This is a picture of what I got in Palermo, Sicily.

Let me know if you try it. I hope you like it!

Save it for later!

With love
