One of the most inspiring activations of the Pinterest Manifestival in Cannes 2024 was the “Fandom Fashion”. There was a rack full of vintage football shirts and we could pick one and customize it. There was a step-by-step tutorial to turn it into a tote bag and all the tools you needed to complete it.
When I arrived, I recognized two shirts from my home country, Argentina: one from “Boca Juniors” and the other from “River Plate”. These are the two biggest and rival teams, so I started thinking about what to do to make a statement project.
I remembered an iconic picture of the hug between two well-known players: Pablo Aimar (River Plate) and Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca Juniors). Then I took a look at the ribbons and I found the colors of the Argentinian flag, so I had no doubt. I would merge the two vintage football shirts into one.
We didn’t have many tools, so I made some holes to merge the two shirts with the ribbons. I also made some bows, following the coquette trend. So now my project was Blokecore-Coquette.
What do you think of the result? Are you into the Fandom Trend? Let me know your thoughts.
